The owners issue was simple: The Ranch house was too small for their young family. They liked the neighborhood and wanted to expand in lieu of moving. My initial task was to see if the existing footprint along with an addition could satisfy their program.  The owners had good design sense and a well defined program which included Master bed room suite,open center hall stair,entrance foyer,living room,home office, mud room, breakfast nook and three bed rooms.  A true transformation was achieved with grand success due to the owners having a keen appreciation for the little details, which contribute to a homes unique character.
